Firm leaders participated in the 2025 Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) International Conference, taking place October 6–8 in Toronto, Canada, with a distinguished lineup of presentations and award-winning projects.
On Monday, October 6, KPF Associate Principal Carmine D’Alessandro led the “Design/Build Smarter: Systems & Constructability” workshop from 2:00 to 5:30 PM, sharing expertise on innovative construction systems. Later that afternoon, KPF Principal Jeffrey Kenoff presented “Designing Huamu Lot 10 – The Summit” in the Best Tall Building (Asia & Oceania) award session from 4:00 to 5:30 PM. At the same time, KPF President and Principal James von Klemperer discussed “64 University Place: Redefining the American Vernacular,” and Senior Associate Principal Andrew Werner presented “One Madison: A Blueprint for High-Density Adaptive Re-use.”
The conference continued on Tuesday, October 7, with KPF Principal Rob Whitlock delivering a keynote speech titled “From the Ground Up: The Next Tall Revolution,” from 9:00 to 10:30 AM. At 11:15 AM, Jamie gave a presentation about transit-oriented development and pedestrian space, discussing One Vanderbilt and other KPF projects as part of the session titled “Seamless Cities: Public Space and Transit for Urban Vitality.” That afternoon, KPF Principal Josh Chaiken presented “Citymark Tower: Lifestyle Office Supertall in Shenzhen” from 4:00 to 5:30 PM, while Principal Forth Bagley discussed “Ping An Financial Centre, Jinan: Embedding a Supertall into the City Fabric.” Both presentations were part of the Best Tall Building (300m & Above, Asia & Middle East/Africa) award session.
On Wednesday, October 8, Jamie and Josh co-presented “Designing for Porosity in Canadian Cities: Designing Better Towers—Metrics, Porosity, and Urban Fit” from 9:00 to 10:30 AM. This session explored how thoughtful design can enhance urban integration and livability in tall buildings, with a focus on the Canadian urban context.
