With over 20 years of experience, Florence will drive KPF’s continued growth and design excellence across China and Asia.
KPF is pleased to announce the promotion of Florence Chan, AIA RIBA HKIA, to Principal. Florence’s elevation recognizes her exceptional record of delivering impactful projects, advancing KPF’s mission, and furthering the firm’s coverage and commitment to the Asia Pacific region.
Since joining KPF’s New York office in 2007 and relocating to Hong Kong in 2008, Florence has played a guiding role in expanding the firm’s reach in China and Asia, most recently as Director of both KPF’s Hong Kong and Shenzhen offices. Over the course of her tenure at the firm, Florence has overseen the delivery of some of the region’s most significant urban developments, including the Ping An Finance Centre in Shenzhen, the CTF Finance Centre in Guangzhou, Hysan Place and Victoria Dockside in Hong Kong, and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou). Her technical expertise in managing highly complex, large-scale projects is matched by her ability to foster collaboration among clients, consultants, and design teams, ensuring consensus and excellence at every stage. One of her special abilities is to function both as a hands-on contributor and a steward of the firm’s visions of broader architectural goals.
“Florence’s leadership and technical expertise have been instrumental in shaping KPF’s presence and reputation in Asia,” said James von Klemperer, FAIA RIBA, KPF President. “Her ability to deliver complex, impactful projects while fostering meaningful relationships with clients and collaborators exemplifies the values we hold as a firm. We are delighted to welcome her to the Principal group and look forward to her continued influence on KPF’s global practice.”
KPF’s long-term commitment to Asia and China is reflected in Florence’s career and the firm’s extensive portfolio in the region. Her leadership continues a legacy of delivering transformative urban architecture that shapes cities and communities.
“Florence’s dedication to both the technical and human aspects of architecture is truly inspiring,” said Forth Bagley, AIA, KPF Principal. “Her work embodies KPF’s mission to elevate cities through impactful architecture that is focused on context, craft, and performance. Florence has worked to develop strong relationships with our clients in the region over the past 20 years, setting the foundation of our current leadership in the Asia Pacific market. As we look to the future, her expertise and dedication will help guide our continued expansion and strengthen our impact throughout the region.”
As KPF looks to the future, Florence’s promotion underscores the firm’s dedication to advancing its mission and deepening its impact throughout China and Asia.
“I am honored to take on this new role and am grateful for the trust and support of my colleagues and clients,” said Florence Chan, AIA RIBA HKIA, KPF Principal. “KPF’s commitment to Asia, particularly to China, has shaped my career, and I look forward to continuing our mission to make meaningful contributions to the built environment.”
Beyond her project work, Florence is dedicated to teaching and mentorship. She frequently serves as a guest lecturer and reviewer at local universities and was the President of the AIA Hong Kong Chapter in 2022. Florence currently serves as a Board Member of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat Hong Kong Chapter. She is a registered architect in the United States and Hong Kong.
KPF congratulates Florence on her well-deserved promotion and looks forward to her continued leadership in shaping the built environment across Asia.
