Hugh Trumbull AIA
Principal
Hugh’s architectural approach focuses on the dialogue between the craft of built form and urban space, paying special attention to the ways in which this relationship might be rethought and improved upon in existing buildings.
Material, Craft, Detail
Hugh’s work is predicated on an investigation into materiality, detail, and craft, leveraging insight into the tectonic qualities of material to most effectively realize his imaginative partis. This approach has demonstrated broad applicability across a diverse range of projects, from more intimate interior renovations to the signature façade expressions of new urban monuments. From the subtle and sophisticated limestone curvature of 712 Fifth Avenue’s lobby, to the stark juxtaposition of stone and glass elements that enliven the façade of HONY Center, the understated sensibility of Hugh’s design approach belies the great care and craftsmanship necessary for its final bearing.
