Principals Andrew Cleary, Claudia Cusumano, Rebecca Gromet, Marianne Kwok, and Robert Whitlock; Director Nicole McGlinn; and Senior Computational Designers Maddy Metawati Eggers and Joe Brennan presented during the event on March 12 and 13.
The annual New York Build Expo gathers construction and design professionals from across the tri-state region to exchange industry knowledge, network, and showcase advances in the field. During the two-day conference, KPF’s attending speakers contributed to a wide range of conversations, from supertall design to data analysis and AI, illustrating KPF’s multi-disciplinary expertise and wide variety of experience.
On March 12 at 2pm, Maddy joined a panel titled “Cracking the Code: How Can Data Shape the Future of the AEC Industry?” while Nicole discussed the evolution of New York’s skyline with fellow panelists. At 3pm, Robert discussed the challenge of balancing aesthetics and functionality in skyscraper design while Claudia dove into best practices for interior design with other leading practitioners.
On March 13 at 10am, Rebecca participated in “The Only Way is Up! Developing Commercially Successful Mixed-Use Tall Buildings.” Immediately afterward, Marianne discussed workplace design in response to changes in demand while Andrew contributed to a conversation on incorporating new high-rises into the urban fabric of New York City. Then, at 12pm, Maddy and Joe led a workshop about computational building geometry and its role in the architectural process.
