KPF Director Andrew Werner and Senior Associate Principal Chandler Archbell recently gave MAS members a behind-the-scenes look into the landmark adaptive reuse project. Jill Lerner, KPF Principal and MAS Board of Directors Co-Chair, added her insights.
One Madison Avenue revamps a historic icon with a design complementing its landmarked neighbor, bringing flexible, Class-A office space to Manhattan’s Flatiron District. Retaining 67% of the building’s original structure, the project provides a successful example of how adaptive reuse can meet the demands of an evolving market, add value to existing buildings, preserve embodied energy, and improve operational performance.
KPF frequently partners with MAS on issues of urban design, preservation, and the future of the city through tours, events, and panel discussions.
