On October 20, KPF welcomed participants of the MIT-Maastricht University Global Real Estate Leaders program for an immersive tour of 520 Fifth Avenue and several other notable KPF projects in Manhattan.
President and Principal James von Klemperer opened the day with a presentation on key KPF projects in Midtown Manhattan, introducing 520 Fifth Avenue, One Vanderbilt, and Hudson Yards, highlighting the power of design to drive economic vitality, cultural identity, and urban resilience. An instructor and advisory board member for the MIT-Maastricht program, Jamie’s remarks underscored the importance of integrating design thinking into global real estate leadership. The session provided context for the group’s exploration of New York City’s evolving urban fabric and KPF’s role in shaping its future.
Director Nicole McGlinn-Morrison led participants on a tour of 520 Fifth Avenue, a supertall tower scheduled for completion in the coming months. The group examined the building’s distinctive modular arches and mixed-use program, which includes luxury residences, boutique offices, and vibrant retail. “The tour continued to other notable KPF projects, including Hudson Yards, with KPF Senior Associate Principal Andrew Werner offering project-team insights into high-density, vertical city design and the ongoing transformation of New York City’s west side.”
