James von Klemperer Appointed to MIT-Maastricht Global Real Estate Leaders Program Advisory Board

The KPF President and Design Principal has joined the MIT Center for Real Estate (MCRE) and University of Maastricht (UM) partnership program as both instructor and advisory board member.

UM and MCRE have partnered to create the pioneering Global Real Estate Leaders Program—a unique educational opportunity designed for mid-career professionals seeking to advance their expertise and leadership in the global real estate industry. The program features a series of intensive, week-long sessions held across two continents, combining lectures from world-class industry leaders with site visits to some of the most notable real estate projects in Europe and North America.

As an advisory board member, Jamie will help shape the program’s vision by facilitating the integration of design thinking and urban strategy into the curriculum. On October 20, he will lead a session on Leadership in Urban Architecture, exploring how design can drive economic vitality, cultural identity, and urban resilience. The program will also feature guided visits to two notable KPF projects in New York, Hudson Yards and 520 Fifth Avenue, providing participants with first-hand insight into high-density, vertical city design.

The appointment builds on KPF’s already strong relationship with MCRE: Jamie was invited to deliver a keynote lecture at the MIT World Real Estate Forum in 2024; Global Director of Sustainability, Carlos Cerezo Davila, has coauthored research on decarbonization cost analysis with the institution; and several other KPF architects have taught, lectured, and served on juries at MIT.
