Shanghai CMG International Media Port and Fusion New Bund are recognized in the “Commercial and Office” category. The pedestrian-focused, mixed-use developments contribute to Shanghai’s dynamic urban fabric, enhancing connectivity, and reinforcing the city’s reputation as a global destination.
Fusion New Bund combines human-focused experiential design with innovation and urban accessibility. Traditional office spaces meet incubator-style work and collaborative areas in a melting pot of creativity; the spine of the project creates a series of intimate streets that modulate the plots into unique but cohesive human-scaled segments. The urban bridge facilitates connectivity throughout the plan, balancing the distinctive identity of each block while positioning streets as destinations, expanding beyond their purpose as routes. To create a focal point above the streetscape, an infinity stair transforms a liminal space into a centerpiece. This interactive sculptural element prioritizes people as active participants in their surrounding environment.
Shanghai CMG International Media Port is a mixed-use landmark development inspired by industrial heritage of the site. As the Yangtze River Delta headquarters of CCTV (China Central Television), it features world-class culture and entertainment venues, retail, and creative offices, all unified by a central multi-level walkway that connects to the metro, sky gardens, and riverside landscapes. As a catalyst for regeneration, Shanghai CMG International Media Port has helped to reinforce Shanghai’s reputation as global cultural destination.
The REARD Global Design Awards celebrate the best work in China and designs from local firms. Projects are judged by a selected jury based on innovation, performance, aesthetics, sustainability, and impact on the local community and economy.
