The 480-meter, all-electric tower will be home to the world’s first urban Ritz-Carlton Reserve.
The luxury hotel will contain 110 rooms and suites, many of which will overlook the Bund and Huangpu River. The hotel includes several restaurants, a lobby lounge, bar, fitness center, indoor swimming pool, and spa. North Bund (Lot 91) will also contain offices, retail space, residences, and an observation deck.
The plan of the tower begins as a circle at ground level and transforms into a triangle as the floor plates rise, optimizing sweeping views from the office floors and thoughtfully directing views from hotel rooms. The tower culminates in three dramatic, stepped elements that frame the building’s publicly accessible crown.
The supertall joins a long list of KPF projects that house some of the world’s best hotels, including similar mixed-use towers across Asia: Shanghai World Financial Center (Park Hyatt Shanghai), Victoria Dockside (Rosewood Hong Kong), CTF Finance Centre (Rosewood Guangzhou), and International Commerce Centre (Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong).
As Shanghai’s first all-electric supertall, North Bund (Lot 91) sets a new benchmark for sustainable towers by prioritizing carbon footprint reduction and serving as a model for the city’s responsible growth. To support China’s vision of becoming fully carbon neutral by 2060, the tower is fully electrified, burning no fossil fuels on site.
