Frank Fan, Associate Principal, presented the master plan at the forum themed ‘Urban Regeneration, Organic Renewal’ in Shanghai.
Since 2006, when the Covent Garden Estate was acquired by Capco, KPF has worked on a series of projects – including Floral Court, Carriage Hall, and 11 Floral Street – and studies to define a master plan which has helped to shape the vibrant, mixed-use neighbourhood that exists today. KPF continues to develop the masterplan with Shaftsbury Capital PLC (formed when Capco merged with the Shaftesbury Estate in 2023) on studies that analyse the potential of the portfolio, identifying areas for improvement, from public realm enhancements, helping to curate ground floor activities and identifying opportunities to reimagine under-utilised spaces.
The forum was curated by the Shanghai Urban Renewal Pioneer Alliance, hosted by Vanke Shanghai, and co-organized by the Architizer A+ Awards. It brought together international and local industry experts to explore the opportunities and challenges faced in urban renewal, helping to identify Shanghai’s renewal characteristics and promoting the balanced development of economy, society and environment.
