KPF New York Hosts Solemma Symposium 2025

On May 8, the Solemma team and professional network gathered at KPF’s Midtown office for a one-day event featuring a presentation by KPF Global Director of Sustainability Carlos Cerezo Davila.

The traveling Solemma Symposium is a full day of knowledge-sharing focused on recent developments in a wide range of environmental simulation tools, and their application to design and performance-evaluation workflows. Born from a Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD) summer project under the guidance of Professor Christoph Reinhart, Solemma and its symposium aligns with KPF’s commitment to engage with and support the advancement of cutting-edge environmental analysis tools.

The May 8 event featured a dynamic series of presentations and discussions focused on the latest developments in environmental performance analysis. Participants explored how designers are leveraging Solemma’s Climate Studio and related tools to drive innovation and expand what is possible in sustainable design. The event also addressed strategies for effectively communicating design intent and sustainability metrics to clients and design teams, bridging the gap between technical analysis and project vision. Attendees discussed the various ways environmental performance tools are used by dedicated professionals, such as KPFep, compared to design teams, and shared insights on how to better support designers in adopting these technologies.

Carlos’s presentation focused on KPF’s contributions to the rapidly developing world of design software and sustainable architecture, including the firm’s Microclimate Digital Twin project, a selection of custom tools for design teams, and the individual case studies of North Bund (Lot 91) and the Comcentre Redevelopment project.

The event was rounded out with updates on Solemma’s latest software advancements, such as new features in Climate Studio, expanded integration with Revit, and enhanced HVAC modeling capabilities.
