KPF Features in CTBUH Quarterly Magazine Vertical Urbanism, Issue 5

James von Klemperer and Emily Kassardjian co-authored “Not Another Brick In The Wall,” an article that examines the design of three residential projects in Manhattan, all designed by KPF.

The 12-page feature explores contextually driven models for urban residential architecture, guiding readers through the design and delivery of 64 University Place, 500 West 21st Street, and 520 Fifth Avenue. Each project demonstrates an ambition to be a “good neighbor,” strategically embedded within its surroundings and informed by past architectural solutions. The buildings reflect KPF’s practice of creating high-performance architecture that celebrates the craft of construction, responding to site, contextual materiality, and evolving architectural identities.

Published by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, Vertical Urbanism, Issue 5, was released as a companion to the CTBUH International conference held in October. The publication dives into many of the topics covered at this year’s conference, which was attended by KPF leaders who presented five award-winning KPF projects.
