On July 15, the KPF Principal joined global leaders in architecture and development at the CTBUH Shenzhen event, “Density 2.0 – Architecture Repositioning and Urban Space Value,” to discuss the evolving role of adaptive reuse projects in changing urban environments.
Hosted at the China Resources Qianhai Center and co-organized by China Resources Land and the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, the event convened industry experts to explore how the practice of architecture can adapt to the challenges and opportunities of high-density urban environments. Florence delivered a focused presentation outlining KPF’s approach to repositioning projects, structured around the principles of Reimagine, Reshape, and Reuse. She illustrated various aspects of the approach with case studies of Panorama St Paul’s, Oriente Green Campus, and 8 Canada Square, alongside specific design choices from other projects.
Florence later joined a panel discussion about design and technology with peers from Pelli Clarke & Partners, GP, MoA, and AI Planetworks, sharing insights on adaptive reuse and the value of flexible, sustainable urban spaces. The event concluded with a lively exchange on how repositioning existing buildings can unlock new value for cities like Shenzhen, fostering innovation and resilience in the built environment.
