Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) City, the major western expansion of Indonesia’s capital city, Jakarta, has won the “Best New Mega Development” category in the MIPIM Asia Awards.
Highlighting the contribution of multiple architects and urban planners—including KPF, as masterplan architects—the accolade recognises the long-term commitment, iterative design process, and collaboration required to deliver successful urban developments. Spanning an area approximately the size of Manhattan, KPF’s master plan for BSD City established a robust framework for sustainable development, including high-level concepts, a clear vision, and measurable objectives, to reimagine the metropolitan edge for an estimated 450,000 new inhabitants.
The MIPIM Asia Awards recognise projects that demonstrate sustainability, strong integration with their context and community, high-quality user experience, originality, and meaningful economic contribution.
This is the second MIPIM Asia Award for BSD City, which was recognized in the Best Futura Mega Project category in 2016. Look back at KPF’s three award-winning projects of 2024 – West Bund Central, Nanjing International Finance Centre, and the Lianzhou Building.
