Alex Miller Presents “Innovation Lessons from London” at the AIA International Conference

The Senior Associate Principal and former AIA UK President joined the 2025 Spring Conference: Trailblazing Architecture.

Alex explored London’s rich history of architectural innovation since the early 1800s, highlighting how past and present advancements have shaped the urban experience of the city.

His presentation referenced key KPF projects, including Carriage Hall, which blends historic ingenuity with today’s most innovative design and structural technologies. Alex also discussed the evolution of accessibility and public spaces using Floral Court as a case study. Referencing The Bermondsey Project, Alex illustrated how advanced simulation and sustainability methods play a key role in KPF’s design processes. As project manager for Chapter London Bridge, a 40-storey student accommodation development, Alex shared insights into the use of High-Rise Solutions (HRS), an advanced prefabrication approach led by Mace to enhance the project’s efficiency and construction. The presentation was followed by a Q&A moderated by Taylor Rogers, Associate Director at Hopkins Architects.
