33 Cavendish Square Submitted for Planning

Plans to transform a former flagship store on Oxford Street have been submitted to Westminster Council.

The planning application was submitted to Westminster City Council by KPF and Berkeley Estate Asset Management (BEAM). The island site was originally home to BHS, formerly one of the UK’s leading high street stores, and the UAL College of Fashion. The proposed mixed-use scheme will re-establish the existing building as a civic landmark contributing to long-term investment of renewed commercial, retail, and cultural offering in the heart of London’s West End.

“The proposals for 33 Cavendish Square represent an important step in the rejuvenation of Oxford Street,” says KPF Principal John Bushell. “The transformation will provide greatly improved retail space to help attract world-leading brands into the ‘nation’s high street’, and a dedicated space to promote creativity and innovation. At the same time, we will be retaining well over half the existing building and targeting ambitious sustainability credentials. This is a rare example of such a comprehensive approach to adaptive reuse. The application is the result of collaboration across the whole design team – combining detailed analysis and testing with balance, experience, and optimism for a deliverable, better future.”
