Redesigning a former flagship store to become a mixed-use development is helping to transform Oxford Street—one of Europe’s busiest shopping destinations—into a vibrant central social district.
The redevelopment of 33 Cavendish Square breathes new life into a vacant retail building at the heart of London’s West End. The plans feature office and retail space, alongside a creative and cultural hub with a new auditorium and flexible event space.
The contextual approach to design responds to the scale and material palette of the area, with frontages that reflect the history of Oxford Street as “the nation’s high street.” More than half of the original building is retained, in line with Westminster’s retrofit-first agenda and reducing the environmental impact of the scheme. An all-electric building, 33 Cavendish integrates efficient, low-carbon systems to meet ambitious sustainability targets.
