Jorge E. Mendoza AIA
Jorge E. Mendoza has more than 20 years’ architectural design and project management experience. Since joining KPF in 2004, he has led a variety of projects from concept through construction throughout the United States and abroad. Jorge’s skillset is broad and he adeptly applies his expertise to a range of project types, from tall towers and large-scale master plans to suburban corporate campuses, leading teams through day-to-day operations and ensuring that our clients’ expectations are met with regard to schedule, budget, and deliverables. Jorge brings a background and expertise that enhances and strengthens the capabilities of his design teams.
Jorge is a seasoned project manager, having led large, multidisciplinary teams in the design of complex projects throughout the world. Projects managed by Jorge often require intense collaboration with numerous consultants, stakeholders, and public agencies. In Boston, Jorge is leading KPF’s Boston Seaport Square project, a mixed-use project located in one of the most active arteries in Boston. The project, due to break down in June of this year, highlights the pedestrian experience by activating the street and drawing lively activities through the neighborhood. The largest private real estate project in the city since the 1960’s, the development will offer three residential towers, an abundance of retail, and a central public square, designed with flexibility in mind.
As Project Manager, he coordinated the design team for China Resources Headquarters in Shenzhen, China, a 400 meter-tall office tower that overlooks Shenzhen Bay and directly links to underground public transportation. Jorge worked closely with the KPF design team, client and engineering consultants, resulting in a design that requires no interior columns and a form that tapers to a point at the top, creating uniquely efficient office spaces throughout the height of the tower.
Jorge takes a special initiative to develop and implement KPF’s rigorous QA/QC procedures, updating standards and policies and providing regular training sessions to the firm’s employees. He plays a key role in our peer review program and often takes an advisory role for the building systems of a variety of KPF’s projects, developing the building systems and infrastructure in a way that works with the restrictions of the design parameters and managing project scheduling.
Additional projects that Jorge has managed include Suzhou International Fortune Plaza and Harbin Bank Headquarters, both in China, and Northeast Asia Trade Tower, the landmark tower of KPF’s New Songdo City master plan in Incheon, South Korea. In Brazil, Jorge worked on Faria Lima Plaza in Sao Paulo and Vista Maua and Vista Guanabara, both in Rio de Janeiro. His added experience in Central and South America include projects in Mexico City, Mexico and Santiago, Chile.
Jorge is a licensed architect in the States of New York and Massachusetts, NCARB affiliated, and an active member of the AIA.
