With a design that embraces the project’s status as the centerpiece of a growing neighborhood in Shenzhen, as well as dynamic programming, Hanking Qianhai establishes a relationship to its natural and built contexts and offers occupants high-end amenities.
Positioned toward southern Shenzhen near a bustling commercial port, Hanking Qianhai integrates a graceful simplicity into its design. The project’s H-shaped plan consists of two offset bars, one shifted east and one set west, linked together by a glass core bridge envisioned as a vertical courtyard. These volumes organize the space on the site and activate the project’s entry, supported by a broad plaza. By offsetting its two segments, the building’s massing is optimized for exceptional views. The northern bar is oriented to provide views of Junior Nanshan Mountain, while the southern bar gestures toward Linding Sea, both reinforcing a relationship to nature.
Hanking Qianhai’s programming is thoughtfully blended to enhance the experience of the building’s occupants. Office spaces and apartments are grounded by retail in the structure’s podium, and a connected above-grade parking garage topped by the building’s largest garden acts as a buffer to the elevated highway to the west. The rooftop garden makes smart use of the project’s characteristics, allowing office workers and tenants access to outdoor green space with walking paths and benches for casual meet ups. Four elevators—all with panoramic views—bring tenants to the upper levels of Hanking Qianhai, which feature exhibition space with greenery as well as apartments, each outfitted with a private balcony.
