Three KPF Projects Take Home Hong Kong Green Building Awards

The International Commerce Centre (ICC) won a Grand Award for operational excellence while the Mongkok East Development and MGM Cotai were recognized with Merit Awards in their respective categories.

Jointly organized by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) and the Professional Green Building Council (PGBC), the biennial Green Building Award celebrates projects and organizations that demonstrate outstanding contributions to a sustainable built environment. With the 2025 theme “Towards Carbon Neutrality • Excellence in Sustainable Built Environment,” the program highlights leadership in sustainable planning, design, and construction, as well as commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and green financing.

The International Commerce Centre, a 118-story supertall tower in Hong Kong completed in 2011, is a benchmark for sustainable high-rise design and operational excellence. Recently, ICC became the first building in Asia to achieve LEED v5 certification—the most up-to-date green building certification available to existing buildings—underscoring its leadership in sustainable facilities management. As the centerpiece of the Union Square development, ICC integrates office, retail, hotel, and recreation spaces with a major transportation hub, becoming a regional standard for connectivity and responsible urban growth.

KPF’s Mongkok East Development, a 320-meter, mixed-use, transit-oriented project for Sun Hung Kai Properties, was recognized in the New Buildings Category: Projects Under Construction and/or Design – Commercial. MGM Cotai in Macau, home to the MGM Grand resort and conceived as a composition of overlapping jewel-like boxes, was also recognized with a Merit Award in the Existing Buildings, Facilities Management category. These honors reflect KPF’s commitment to delivering high-performance, sustainable environments across typologies, sectors, and geographies.
