KPF Releases 2025 Sustainability and Climate Action Report

Published annually, the report provides an update on KPF’s commitment to designing net-zero projects and progress toward the firm’s science-based greenhouse gas reductions targets.

As the climate crisis reshapes our world and endangers our cities, KPF’s environmental commitments take on a renewed sense of urgency. In our projects we work to reduce the operational and embodied greenhouse gas emissions while creating buildings and cities that are adapted both to today’s needs and the demands of the future. We also regularly take stock of our operations as a firm, assessing our own climate impact and pursuing more environmentally friendly ways of doing business. KPF’s 2025 Sustainability and Climate Action Report catalogues the wide range of our efforts across three distinct areas: our architectural projects, our operations as a firm, and within the KPF community.

Report Highlights:

Our Projects

As an architectural firm, our most significant opportunity to make change is with our projects. To that end, KPF has joined the AIA and RIBA 2030 Commitments as well as the AIA Materials Pledge.

In 2025, KPF:

  • Submitted detailed sustainability data to AIA 2030 for the 6th year in a row with our most energy efficient projects, including the Bard College Residence Halls, exceeding the Commitment’s goal of an 80% EUI reduction compared to baseline buildings.
  • Established a Materials Action Plan aligned with AIA Materials Pledge criteria and reported data to the pledge for the second year.
  • Achieved important milestones on several highly sustainable building projects. Of note, the Comcentre Redevelopment, an end-to-end carbon-neutral headquarters complex, broke ground in Singapore.

Our Practice

Since 2019, KPF has engaged in a process of auditing our firm’s environmental impact as a business. By committing to validated science-based greenhouse gas reduction targets of at least 50% in scopes 1 and 2 and 27% in scope 3 by 2030 compared with a 2019 baseline year, we are working to align our operations as a business to what the latest climate science shows is necessary to limit global warming to 1.5° Celsius above pre-industrial levels, the aim of the Paris agreement.

In 2025, KPF:

  • Analyzed and reported our emissions to the Science Based Targets initiative for the second year in a row.
  • Implemented centralized booking with integrated emissions tracking for all business travel planning, resulting in a small reduction in our overall business travel emissions.

Our People
