The KPF Principal will take the stage to explore what makes density work and consider how Mumbai can grow up, not out.
In “Humanising the Megacity: is Mumbai Dense Enough?” Elie will present examples of density from cities around the world. His presentation will discuss the opportunities that arise from living in close proximity and the ways design can address the potential difficulties of density – from fostering areas of inspirational cultural exchange to solving gridlock through mixed-use development.
Examples of high-density, mixed-use developments from around the world will be used to illustrate the potential for architects, urban planners, developers, and city officials to create dynamic public spaces, cultural vitality, and enhanced amenity. The question isn’t “How dense is the city?” but “What is the quality of that density?”
The CTBUH Asia Regional Conference, “Vertical Urbanism Density, Carbon and People,” will bring together leading architects, engineers, urban planners, policymakers, and industry experts to explore the evolving paradigms of vertical urbanism.
The conference will take place at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai from December 10-12.
