The mixed-use tower reached a major milestone on its way to a final height of 489 meters (1,574 feet).
Known as the “Panda Tower,” the project broke ground in August 2021 and has progressed steadily toward key milestones with the use of cutting-edge construction technologies and equipment. At this point in construction, the core wall structure has reached the 58th floor and the steel structure has reached the 60th floor.
When finished, the large-scale, mixed-use complex will operate as a full-spectrum vertical city. The three-tower development ascends in size from base to summit, referencing the mountains of the region’s surrounding landscape. A podium connects the buildings and forms a commercial street district for dining, shopping, and entertainment. The Chengdu Tianfu Supertall is dedicated to offices and hotel accommodations, and the crown houses an observation deck, cultural exhibition space, and premium dining. Sections and cutouts that spiral up the façade are designed to increase environmental efficiency, house various gardens, and create a striking visual identity for the project. A separate 200-meter tower includes hospitality and residential uses.
With the 300-meter threshold now cleared, the Chengdu Tianfu Supertall enters a new phase of superstructure construction as it continues its climb toward completion. This milestone marks a major step toward the completion of the Tianfu Central Business District, which will be a catalyst for the region’s ongoing economic development.
