On July 27th, the KPF President and Principal spoke at a forum hosted by Southwest Jiaotong University on vertical cities, highlighting the KPF-designed tower currently under construction.
Tying into the session themed “Vertical Park City of Supertall Towers,” Jamie and Rebecca were invited to discuss the 489-meter Chengdu Tianfu Supertall. In the keynote speech, Jamie discussed KPF’s supertall portfolio, featuring 6 of the 12 tallest towers in the world, and how this expertise influenced the design for the new tower in Chengdu. The presentation was organized around six main ideas and priorities for towers of the future: the modern workplace, promoting wellness, robust amenities, unique urban experiences, urban integration, and environmental integration. The Chengdu Tianfu Supertall factors in each of these guiding principles to contribute to the city’s wealth of culture.
Following Jamie’s presentation, Rebecca joined the live feed for a Q&A, receiving questions from the audience comprised of the school’s architecture students, in addition to the general public.
The Park City Innovation and Practice Forum is a series sponsored by the Architecture School of Southwest Jiaotong University and the Underground Space Academic Committee at the Architecture Society of China. The session was held virtually on July 27th and was viewed by over 10,000 people.
