Carlos Cerezo Davila Moderates AIA New York Panel on Digital Decarbonization

The KPF Global Head of Sustainability moderated a half-day symposium exploring the intersection of digital technology and decarbonization in the built environment at the Center for Architecture on February 25.

The event, titled “Driving Digital Decarbonization: Tools Reducing Carbon Emissions at Scale,” is organized by the AIANY Committee on the Environment (COTE) and follows the launch of AIANY’s Building Decarbonization Action Plan. The symposium will examine how data-driven digital tools—from BIM-integrated lifecycle assessment (LCA) platforms to construction digital twins and IoT sensors—are revolutionizing sustainable design and construction. Three panels will address streamlining lifecycle embodied carbon reporting, modeling energy data for futureproofing NYC’s grid, and data-driven construction practices, featuring real-world case studies from technology developers, data consumers, and building experts.

Carlos will moderate a panel comprising Molly Dee-Ramasamy, Principal of the Deep Carbon Reduction Group at Jaros, Baum & Bolles (JB&B); Shresht Nagpal, CEO of CarbonSignal; and Michael Reed, Senior Director of Building Transformation at NYSERDA. Carlos’s participation continues his active involvement with the AIA, including his presentation at the 2025 AIA National Conference, where he co-presented on the all-electric Vagelos Innovation Laboratories at Columbia University, a catalyst project for campus-wide decarbonization.
