Florence Chan AIA HKIA LEED AP
Principal
Florence has played a guiding role in expanding KPF’s reach in China and Asia, overseeing the delivery of some of the region’s most significant urban developments and playing a leadership role in both the firm’s Hong Kong and Shenzhen offices. She has been critical to the success of large-scale, mixed-use projects as well as supertall towers and university campuses and has served as an on-site manager for developments in mainland China.
Managing Complexity Through Communication
Florence plays an essential role as a liaison between clients, consultants, and design teams, coordinating and finding consensus among stakeholders. Her deep technical design expertise in highly complex projects is complemented by an open communication style and steady management, allowing her to solve problems and strike a balance between the designer’s goals and the client’s aspirations. Her dedication is evident in a number of highly impactful projects that includes the Chow Tai Fook (CTF) Finance Centre, one of China’s tallest buildings; the Satcom Tower, which maximizes its site’s allowable height while integrating extensive public realm; and the Ping An Finance Centre, which is the world’s tallest office building.

Mixed-Use Urbanism
In addition to skyline-defining towers, Florence excels in managing the complexities of mixed-use districts and program-driven developments, delivering new urban destinations. At the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), Florence helped lead the design of specialized campus facilities that converge around a dynamic, central space to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and engender a strong academic community. Her leadership was instrumental to the successful realization of Victoria Dockside, a three-and-a-half-million-square-foot vertical neighborhood that combines retail, residences, hotels, and Class-A offices on the Hong Kong harbor front.
