Located at the heart of Taipei’s vibrant Xinyi District, Tower Urban Oasis (TUO) redefines the connection between urban development and the natural landscape, setting a new benchmark for sustainable development.
This state-of-the-art headquarters building brings a fresh urban presence to Taipei, blending modern architectural design with natural inspiration in a sustainable, healthy workplace. Developed by the Taiwan Cement Company (TCC), the project is composed of three premium corporate offices, including one that will serve as a new headquarters for TCC itself. Designed to meet the most rigorous sustainability standards by minimizing operational and embodied carbon emissions, TUO is positioned to meet the demands of multinational corporations seeking world-class facilities.
Inspired by Taiwan’s lush, mountainous landscape, the office towers are defined by planted terraces that cascade down into a central courtyard. Balconies and outdoor breakout spaces blur the line between interior and exterior, fostering well-being and collaboration. At ground level, landscaped courtyard welcomes users into a dynamic, shared space. Expansive greenery helps regulate the urban microclimate and creates a green buffer that cools interior spaces while meaningfully reducing energy consumption from air conditioning. The building comprises of TCC’s internally developed Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (UHPC) and low-carbon materials.
KPF’s sustainability expertise and advanced modeling—in the form of simulations energy models, and whole-building lifecycle assessment—drive a holistic environmental performance approach that centers decarbonization, resilience, and occupant well-being. TUO is positioned to meet the prestigious quadruple certifications of LEED and WELL Platinum alongside Taiwan’s highest-tier EEWH and Intelligent Building Diamond. KPF will administer the project’s LEED and WELL Platinum certifications through completion and will explore project pathways to meeting net-zero targets. With strategies tailored to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, address Taipei’s climate, and prioritize health and wellness, TUO’s distinct form and future-proofed approach set new standards for sustainable urban development.
