Fuzhou Rivercity redefines waterfront living in Fuzhou—the human-scale, nature-integrated neighborhood invites discovery and exploration, weaving together Fuzhou’s unique history and culture to cultivate its future skyline.
Spanning four blocks, anchored on a prime 846m stretch of and directly linked to the metro and riverfront park. This 460,000 sqm mixed-use development creates a dynamic, ecological, and walkable environment where residential, office, and retail spaces converge. Rivercity stands as a riverfront community that fosters healthy, innovative, and sustainable living and work environments.
Inspired by the surrounding landscape, the project shapes the city’s future skyline, while echoing the spirit of the historic ‘three lands and seven alleys’. The design reinterprets Fuzhou’s traditional urban fabric, integrating intimate walkways and courtyards into a network of ground-level and elevated pathways extending through the upper retail block, reserving future direct connections to the riverside. Local materials, such as Chinese grey brick, granite, and clay tile shingles complemented by bronze, champagne and ceramic-white aluminum celebrate traditional form and materiality.
Guided by the principles of community exploration, and wellness, Fuzhou Rivercity integrates natural landscaping with high-performance energy systems, and advanced building materials. Its roof profiles support rainwater collection while providing green terraces and vegetation that enhance comfort and wellbeing. The project has been awarded LEED Gold and LEED Communities Gold, and China 1-Green Star.
The project thoughtfully connects the urban fabric and nature, creating a fluid transition between the city and its landscape. Its distinctive massing and landscape-inspired roofscape establish the development as a cohesive, dynamic landmark on the city’s skyline.
