“The Eye of Xixian” fuses hotel, waterpark, and cultural amenity into a singular sinuous loop creating a landmark where architecture, landscape, and experience become one.
The Daxia Xixian Hotel reimagines architecture as an extension of the landscape. Positioned at the convergence of the Feng River Wetland Park and the CuiHua Mountains in Xixian’s expanding Xixian New District, the project brings together a 5-star hotel, waterpark, sky ballroom, spa, and convention facilities within an iconic form that performs simultaneously as urban landmark and civic threshold.
The project organizes the hotel program into two distinct wings, the Mountain Hotel and the Wetland Hotel, each offering its own spatial rhythm and guest experience and linked by a grand sky ballroom and shared amenities. This configuration creates a monumental arrival portal that draws visitors directly into the heart of the project. At the center of the composition, a crystalline waterpark, the Water Pearl, anchors the project, its reflective surfaces and transparent enclosure dissolving the boundary between interior and exterior. Illuminated at night, it becomes a new beacon in the landscape. The non-directional form of the loop enables the building to engage the site with total fluidity: from every angle, it captures the shifting vocabulary of the wetlands and frames the distant mountains, functioning as an active participant in the district—responsive, extroverted, and perpetually in dialogue with its context.
The project’s form draws inspiration from the bends of the river, the mountains beyond, and the linear strokes of calligraphy found in Xixian’s local craft—collectively shaping a symbiotic system of indoor and outdoor environments deeply rooted in the city’s cultural heritage. A terraced garden arrival and a wetland spa with a wave roof pool further blur the threshold between building and nature, while rooftop amenities and an infinity pool frame panoramic views across the wetlands toward the mountains.
