China Central Place

Huamao Center

Located adjacent to the Chaoyang Central Business District in Beijing, China Central Place transitions from commercial program, including state-of-the-art office towers and China’s most successful mall, to tree-lined, residential areas at its northern end.

The mixed-use complex opens with three glass-skinned towers, each successively taller. These offices are home to globally renowned tenants such as Conde Nast, Johnson & Johnson, Microsoft, and the NBA, garnering the second highest rents in Beijing. Tower 3 stands the tallest at 36 floors, a dominant form on the eastern approach to Beijing. Combined with the Jianguomen Road footbridge, the towers serve as a gateway into the city.

The buildings are connected at their base by a five-story retail structure that allows users to reach the three towers from the subway without having to exit the complex. The podium features terracotta screens that pay homage to the clay tiles present throughout the Forbidden City.

The SKP mall, the second highest revenue generating mall in the world, behind Harrods in London, boasts the largest collection of luxury brand names in the capital, as well as flagships for leading edge technology retailers including Apple and Tesla. The retail program is marked by a galleria that defines a circular plaza. This circularity is reinforced by a hotel, a round reflecting pool, and a landscaped amphitheater. These elements are designed to sponsor an active urban space used by the office workers, shoppers, hotel patrons and residents alike.
