320 Granville in Vancouver, Atlantis The Royal in Dubai, and Citymark Tower in Shenzhen were among the projects selected in the 2024/2025 program.
In its 11th season, the prestigious list recognizes buildings from around the world for “combining exemplary sustainability, outer shape, inner spatial qualities and social aspects to form a superior building.” Judged on holistic excellence, projects may receive special recognition for outstanding sustainability practices, technical innovations, or exceptional urban development. The winning project, to be announced in Winter of 2024, receives an honorary exhibition and is awarded a ceremonial statuette by artist Thomas Demand.
320 Granville, the centerpiece of Vancouver’s Waterfront Hub, is a transit-oriented AAA office tower with a gently curving glass façade designed to reflect and soften the sharp lines of its neighboring buildings. Perched on Dubai’s Persian Gulf coast, Atlantis The Royal provides luxury hospitality within a striking mass of stepped terraces and lush, connecting skybridges. Shenzhen’s Citymark Tower is a thoroughly mixed-use supertall boasting a sleek, aerodynamic appearance, exemplifying the profound diversity of design valued by this year’s awards committee.
The International High-Rise Award program is organized by the City of Frankfurt, Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM) and DekaBank, who employ a jury of renowned international architects, engineers, and critics to single out the best buildings of the preceding two years. To qualify, projects must be completed after January 1, 2022, and be over 100 meters tall. The jury will convene beginning in Autumn 2024. Read more about the nomination and award process here.
