Michael Kirschner Presents UMCI at Façade Tectonics 2026 World Congress

The KPF Senior Associate Principal presented a case study, co-authored with Paulina Szpiech of Buro Happold, on the façade development and engineering for the University of Michigan Center for Innovation (UMCI).

As the centerpiece of Detroit’s rapidly developing Innovation District, the UMCI’s expressive architectural form demanded rigorous technical development. The center will offer programs that focus on high-tech research, education, and innovation for university students and the community at large.

Façade Tectonics World Congress is one of the premier global gatherings of academics and industry leaders exploring innovation in the art, science, and technology of the building façade. The conference was held from September 28 to October 2 in Pittsburgh, PA.
