KPF Principal Shawn Duffy and Senior Associate Principal Alex Miller spoke at the annual façades and engineering conference, presenting and joining a panel discussion on innovative technologies.

Shawn’s presentation drew from his experience as Managing Principal on many of KPF’s most technically advanced buildings, including One North Quay and 8 Canada Square in London. Shawn’s presentation covered compliance, sustainable innovation, and the application of low-tech knowledge—highlighting the importance of prioritising incremental and cumulative innovation in construction over technical leaps.
Alex Miller joined the panel, “Chapter Living: Building a Student Community on the Skyline”.
Alex discussed the development and key drivers of Chapter London Bridge, a 39-storey student accommodation tower in London. His contributions to the project were integral to its fast-tracked delivery and execution on an extremely constrained site in the city. Alex was joined by Phil Sedge, Associate Director at Billings Design Associates; Umut Bülbül, Managing Director in the UK, Ireland & Netherlands region at Metal Yapi; and Phil Sedge, Director and Head of Facades at Mace who moderated the discussion
