The recognition comes on the strength of recent projects in London and Lisbon. Panorama St Paul’s transforms a failing 1980s office block into a landmark of adaptive reuse, while reusing original Portland stone in a new high-performance façade. Oriente Green Campus retains 91% of an abandoned shopping mall’s structure to create a world-class innovation hub. Additional ongoing projects such as 8 Canada Square and Seventy Gracechurch Street demonstrate KPF’s continued commitment to defining what radical reinvention means at the scale of the city.
The Architect of the Year Awards are Building Design’s annual celebration of the very best work being produced by practices today, recognizing firms for a body of work across specific sectors rather than a single building.
Winners will be revealed on 7 October at Convene Sancroft, St Paul’s, London.
