KPF Hosts Lecture on the Work of Paul Rudolph

Dan Webre, Co-Director of the Paul Rudolph Foundation, presented to KPF’s New York office in an evening discussion of Rudolph’s influential Modernist designs.

“Rudoph’s mastery of space and proportion continues to impress us today and his works have inspired some of our own projects at KPF,” says Principal Brian Girard. During the lecture, titled “Paul Rudolph: Spatial Concepts,” Webre shared insights into how Rudolph (1918–97) conceptualized dynamic, plastic, and well scaled spaces throughout his 50-year career.

Rudolph’s work ranged from small, experimental guest houses on Florida’s Gulf Coast to large-scale campus and urban plans. Webre recounted Rudolph’s education under Walter Gropius at Harvard University and shared a selection of his projects with the KPF community, including the Orange County Government Center (1963) in Goshen, NY, and the Bass Residence (1970) in Fort Worth, TX.
