On September 20th, the KPF Principal spoke on a panel at the firm-sponsored conference, where he shared approaches to airport design that blend the physical, digital, and sustainable needs of the future.
On the panel “Transformative Approaches to Designing the Next Generation of Airport Facilities where Physical, Digital, and Sustainability Intersect,” Forth provided insight into the firm’s experience designing elevated aviation facilities. His discussion leveraged KPF’s experience in airport design, including Changi Airport Terminal 5, which was designed in collaboration with Heatherwick Studio and reimagines the airport experience as a social extension of the city, and Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Midfield Terminal, which will process over 50 million travelers each year to meet the needs of the rapidly expanding Middle East capital.
Forth was joined on the panel by Ashwini Sulakhe Thorat, Chief Design and Planning, Adani Airports; Philip Autekie, Masterplanning and Design Manager, Brussels Airport Company; Robert Hoxie, Chief Development Officer, City of Chicago Department of Aviation; Terri Mestas, Chief Development Officer, Los Angeles World Airports; and Yahav Ran, CEO, Synect. Yvonne Bilshausen, Vice President of Aviation, Hill International, moderated the panel.
