The KPF Director and Senior Environmental Specialist will participate in “Timber Structures – How Building in Hybrid Can Reach New Heights.”
Darina will present Burrard Exchange, Vancouver, which demonstrates KPF’s approach to embracing material innovation to reduce whole life carbon. Featured in “The Carbon Issue” of KPF Review, the office tower adopts elements of biophilic design and a hybrid timber structure that ties the development into Vancouver’s historical identity.
The event will cover construction methods, insights into emerging technologies, regulatory changes, and the evolving role of timber in achieving carbon-neutral buildings. Discussing the benefits and challenges of hybrid construction, Darina and Elias will be joined on the panel by Lucas Epp, Vice President & Head of Engineering at StructureCraft; Steve Colomb, Development Manager at Dexus; and Jon Leach, Director at AECOM. The event will be chaired by Ben Lewis, Design Director at AECOM.
