Brian Spring Presents at Zak World of Facades in London

The KPF Director will deliver a presentation titled, “Craft, Context, Performance: Ceramic Façade Detailing, from Concept to Completion.”

Brian will reference a selection of projects to demonstrate KPF’s iterative design process, through prototyping and 1:1 modelling. The design development for the façade of 176-178 York Way included multiple iterations of CNC fabrication models, exploring tool path textures, facilitated by the KPF London Modelshop. At One North Quay, set to become Britain’s first skyscraper lab, an innovative ‘inside-out’ approach was developed, resulting in a high-performance façade, designed to optimise energy performance and reduce embodied carbon. And, One Vanderbilt highlights the resurgence of terra cotta in New York, tiles are used across the height of the Midtown landmark to create depth and texture on the façade.

The Zak World of Facades is an international conference series on façades and engineering, attracting over 45,000+ delegates across its history. This year’s London conference will take place on November 6 at Old Billingsgate, London. Learn more about the conference here.
