On January 26th, the KPF Director discussed high-performance buildings in California’s South Bay, spotlighting the San Jose office complex.
The development comprises three separate office structures connected by bridges, each with manicured green spaces accessible from all levels. The materiality of the terraces contrasts the main façade in color and materiality, resulting in an organic composition. Platform 16’s bronze-colored façade is constructed in three module sections, incorporating passive cooling systems throughout. A solar PV roof covering 20% of the building demand aids in the reduction of the building’s emissions.
Angela was joined by Arup’s Irene Martin, Façade Team Leader, and Tim Fuller, Senior Engineer. The panel was moderated by Aaron Seward, Editor in Chief of The Architect’s Newspaper.
The symposium, hosted by The Architect’s Newspaper is the premiere conference on high-performance building enclosures. Facades+ San Francisco took place on January 26th from 8:00 AM to 4:40 PM PDT at the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway San Francisco. Learn more and register here.
