On September 25, the KPF Principal led a group of ULI New York Young Leaders on an educational tour of Midtown Manhattan to examine contemporary trends in office building design and development.
Titled “Revitalization of Office on Park Avenue,” the tour began at the KPF New York office with a presentation on Midtown East rezoning and its effects on office development in the area. The group then visited One Vanderbilt, which brings together several key features, including its public facing podium, integrated transit connections, and mixed-use program. The tour also visited “existing asset repositioning projects” such as 250 Park Avenue, which illustrates the ongoing shift from insular single-occupant office buildings to more varied, amenity-rich programming.
Andrew’s experience managing the execution of One Vanderbilt has given him an intimate perspective on what it means to design an office building in modern Midtown Manhattan, the country’s busiest business district. His broad understanding of development trends in the area and familiarity with the minutia of local zoning and design gave tour attendees a unique insight into the process.
