In conjunction with Archtober festivities, AIA New York (AIANY) is opening an exhibition of past, current, and future work from AIA members throughout the five boroughs hosted by the Center for Architecture.
One Vanderbilt, Hudson Yards, and other KPF projects will be featured as AIANY member work alongside designs by the wider AIANY community. The exhibit will spread over three floors of the Center for Architecture (CFA) galleries, “providing a snapshot of our community’s impact on the city and the built environment at large.” This year’s Archtober theme, Tracing the Future, “delves into the evolving landscape of NYC through affordable housing, sustainable design, infrastructure, and more.”
The opening of “Built by New York” on October 1 will mark the first day of Archtober, the conclusion of CFA’s 20th anniversary celebrations, and will coincide with the opening of “Why Design?”, an exhibition of K-12 student design work from workshops held by the CFA. Both exhibits will be open through April 5, 2025, and are free to AIA members and the general public, removing barriers to architecture learning and appreciation for New York citizens and visitors.
