A mixed-use development at the heart of the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD), the Central Hub forms a new 24/7 destination.

The defining feature of the Central Hub is a continuous, ribbon-like canopy that guides circulation, improves thermal comfort, and provides a clear sense of identity. The scheme reaches beyond its boundaries, strengthening connections across the city and inviting locals and visitors to a social district with a balance of indoor and outdoor spaces.

A deceptively simple structure, the canopy is an architectural expression of movement and Saudi culture, inspired by local fabrics, textiles, and geometry. Its undulating form will be visible in glimpses from key points across KAFD—becoming a symbol of flow through the public realm and a clear expression of gathering at the center of the district. The semi-transparent structure provides dappled shade, leading to lower external temperatures creates a comfortable environment and protects plant life.

The development comprises retail pavilions, cafes and restaurants, and a monorail station—all arranged around a landscaped park. The position of the buildings reinforces pedestrian routes and echoes the geometries of the signature canopy. A hierarchy of public spaces is created, integrating various modes of transportation: vehicle, pedestrian, and rail. The result is a socially connected urban environment, a central gathering place that connects work, leisure, retail, education, and tourism.
