Terminal A was named as the Winner of the 2024 Prix Versailles at an awards ceremony held at the UNESCO Headquarters.
The airport epitomizes innovative design, demonstrating KPF’s commitment to craft, context, and performance. Described as a “Futuristic Masterpiece” in an article by The Daily Mail, Terminal A has the capacity to process up to 45 million travellers annually. It incorporates the latest technologies for seamless passenger flow, to deliver an unprecedented airport experience. Conceived as a gateway to Abu Dhabi the terminal has become a landmark for the region, at night, the illuminated interior reveals a monumental civic space featuring some of the largest spanning arches ever constructed.
The airport has received multiple accolades since opening including Best Airport at Arrivals Globally in the 2024 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards and a top-three placing in the Skytrax’s World’s Best Airport rankings.
The “World’s Most Beautiful” program, granted by the Prix Versailles, highlights the primary role of the projects in beautifying and improving the living environment as signs of exceptional architecture and design.
