Salvadori Center Students Visit KPF’s New York Office

A group of K-12 students participating in STEAM programs organized by the Salvadori Center visited the KPF office in New York City on December 12 to learn about the architecture industry.

KPF Principal Lauren Schmidt, an active Salvadori Center board member, assisted in organizing the visit for students from MS/HS 223 The Laboratory School of Finance and Technology. With talks from Greg Mell, Chandler Archbell, and Kavitha Mathew, the middle and high school Salvadori students got a first-hand view inside a global architecture firm and exposure to the diverse career paths of KPF professionals.

The Salvadori Center partners with New York and Pennsylvania schools to bring STEAM programs to their K-12 classrooms, working to further science, technology, engineering, art, and math education at those schools. Office visits and other field trips augment Salvadori’s project-based teaching approach and form a direct connection between the current and future generations of STEAM professionals.
