Panorama St Paul’s Wins Green Good Design Award

Winner in the Green Architecture category, the 1980s office building was recognized for its transformative deep retrofit and extension.

Panorama St Paul’s transforms an outdated office building into a contemporary mixed-use development in the heart of the City of London. The redevelopment provides high-quality, sustainable workspace and supports a welcoming, 24/7 neighbourhood through the creation of a new pedestrian route featuring a curated Art Wall.

Through an exercise of urban quarrying, the original façade was replaced with a new, high-performance envelope constructed using stone from the original façade, improving the internal environment and the building’s relationship with the street. Floor area has been increased by 96% through the addition of extra storeys and the partial infill of the original atrium, creating flexible workspaces that can be adapted to suit future office demands and support user wellbeing.

The Green Good Design Awards, organized by The Chicago Athenaeum together with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies, recognises products, buildings, people, and institutions that have contributed to sustainable efforts.
