On April 15, the KPF Director reflected on the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic on office culture as part of the event titled, “The Bridge Between Academia and the Built Environment Professionals.”
Schmidt took part in a panel that explores how work-from-home has impacted the culture and community of the office. The group discussed the challenges of onboarding new employees, leadership transitions, and maintaining innovation. This selection of panelists features three professionals at different points in their careers. Schmidt was joined by Jonathan Bahe, Senior Associate, NBBJ, and Teresa Edmisten, Principal/VP, Applied Research and Innovation, tvdesign. The panel was moderated by Sharon Haar, Professor of Architecture, Taubman College, University of Minnesota, and Luis Rico-Gutierrez, Dean, College of Design, Iowa State University.
The Design Futures Webcast took place on April 15 from 1-3 pm ET, with Schmidt’s panel running from 1:10-1:40 pm. The event also featured a panel of students discussing their hopes for the professional environment. Register took place here.
