KPFep Showcases ClimaTwin at SimBuild 2026

On May 20, Quoc Dang and Remy Mermelstein of KPF’s Environmental Performance team presented KPF’s exterior climate digital twin technology at the nation’s preeminent building simulation conference.

Organized by IBPSA-USA, the regional affiliate of the International Building Performance Simulation Association, SimBuild 2026 gathered experts in the field of building simulation and performance analysis to share emerging research and technology. Environmental Performance Software Developer, Quoc Dang, and Environmental Performance Specialist, Remy Mermelstein, presented KPF’s in-house digital twin technology, ClimaTwin. A three-year collaboration with KPF’s Design Technology team, the urban microclimate digital twin tool makes thermal comfort data real-time, accessible, and spatially precise.

Quoc Dang received recognition for his work on the ClimaTwin tool—winning an honorable mention in the Simulation Showcase award category at the conference. Along with his team, Quoc additionally won an award in the conference’s Hackathon event for Best Simulation Practice Improvement. Their tool, Design2BEM, seeks to generate a ready-to-run building energy model from a sketch or 3D massing model.
