On October 26, students visited the firm’s London office to participate in a charrette with mentorship and reviews by KPF staff in collaboration with the AIA UK Chapter.
Over 70 Part I architecture students participated in a one-day analogue design competition, with a brief to create community-focused installations in the Strand Aldwych. Teams designed projects emphasizing participatory design, sustainability, and adaptive reuse, enhancing public interaction and storytelling.
Each team was mentored by practicing architects including KPF Senior Associate Principal Alex Miller. The Jury, including KPF Director Samantha Cooke, Hopkins Architects Associate Director Taylor Rogers, and Benoy Associate Director Karla Montauti, concluded the event with a design review and announcement of winning teams.
Team Francis, which included Emma McCook, Aaron Horwood, Caroline Rodrigues, Henri Toniolo, and Fabiane Lonardelli, secured first place. Team Elizabeth and Bea claimed second place, while Team Gregory finished in third place.
