The KPF Principal recently shared the ideas and values that shape her practice and approach to leadership with the AIA’s magazine alongside other notable women leaders in the field.
Hana reflected on KPF’s ongoing work to reimagine central business districts as places of genuine social exchange. She described her near– and long–term priorities as designing environments not just for efficiency, but for connection, belonging, and crosspollination across diverse groups. Hana spoke candidly about what sustains a long career in architecture, both drawing on advice that she had been given and providing some of her own. When asked what words have helped her sustain success and drive, she shared: “Be genuine in what you investigate. That way, nothing that you do—be it in academia, practice, or research—will ever be a waste of time.”
Wanda Lau, interviewing for AIArchitect, featured Hana alongside four other trailblazers in the field: Zena Howard, FAIA; Carol Ross Barney, FAIA; Laura Nassri Warren, AIA; and Jenny Wu
