Hana Kassem Discusses Experiential and Cultural Architecture in Lecture at The Cooper Union

The KPF Principal gave a lecture entitled “Mind and Matter in Architecture” at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York on October 22.

Focused on the “duality of experiential perception and cultural narratives,” the presentation was guided by recent KPF projects that navigate this dynamic and followed by an interactive Q&A session moderated by Nora Akawi. Hana’s expertise in the human experience of architecture informs her design work in all sectors and is visible in projects such as the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), Meta Farley, NYCHA Red Hook Houses, and more. Earlier this year, her essay on neuroaesthetics in architecture, which explores the complex interplay between humans and the spaces they inhabit, was published in the Italian architecture magazine The Plan. A sought-after juror for design awards internationally, Hana’s portfolio of projects illustrates a sensitivity to the human experience as well as an integral understanding of architectural excellence.

The lecture took place on October 22 at 6:30pm in person at The Cooper Union in New York in room 315F, or through Zoom. The event was free and open to the public; learn more here.
